Bonjour! I recommend (with my entire nervous system!) attending Marie Losier's Film Portraits, screening at Forence Gould Hall, at the French Institute, Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00!!!
Marie will be premiering her new film, Tony Conrad, DreaMinimalist, and there will be a Q&A with Tony Conrad following the screening!!!
If you cannot attend the screening, I recommend Marie's website, where her films are posted for online viewing. (This means you, Mike Everleth!)
Marie Losier's film portraits are the most dreamy, hilarious, poetic, madcap, and delirious explorations into the lives and psyches of the most famous of the A.G. cine-metaphysicians, Mike Kuchar, George Kuchar, Guy Maddin, and Tony C.! These portraits also reveal the beautiful, multi-chambered heart and the quickfire luminescent mind of the artist herself. By the way, Marie Losier is a curator at the FIAF, and of course, I love her even more, because she is French! :)
Looking over the films listed on her website, I realize that I screened almost all of her works made from 2003-2006. Marie has always been happy to participate in my shows and she has always been encouraging, even when it must have been quite obvious that I was making it all up (curatorially) as I went along pursuing my spiritual quest . . . (kind of like this blog!:) Marie is a friend, and the artists in her films are our friends too!
So I hope to see you there! This one is going to be fantastic . . .
Congratulations, Marie!!!!!!

You better, Mike! :)
Seriously, I am interested to hear your thoughts on these films, especially since Bad Lit is the online reincarnation of "Movie Journal."

thanks for this great bit of information! I have a cinema class and I need to find her movies to watch for class- now I got my homework done :) It is so good to hear you loved her work- I was afraid I will have to deal with some boring visuals but you make it sound so fascinating :)
