I hope to see all of you at Millennium Film Workshop, April 29, 8:00! I have been meaning to compose a post on the aerodynamic paper by Doug Warrick et al., as well as all the cool info I have gathered on hummingbirds. They are spectacular! For now, I just want to post this photo from Aerodynamics of the Hovering Hummingbird, Nature (2005).
This image is really data! The scientists used Digital Particle Imaging Velocimetry, a photographic technique that revealed changes in air movement surrounding the hovering hummingbird. DPIV was the primary method used to acquire results in this study . . . I'll talk more about this at the show!
